The Framingham Garden Club’s booth at Framingham’s 2024 Earth Day Festival was a popular place on April 27, 2024.
- Adopt a Pollinator Pet Rock Program – To encourage children to understand the role of pollinators in gardening, including at-risk pollinators, we had an educational “Adopt a Pollinator Pet Rock” program for children. To complement this program we distributed native plant lists for adults who wished to learn more about the type of native plants that will attract these pollinators and a native seed giveaway to encourage attracting pollinators in gardening.
- Community Giving Garden –The Community Giving Garden returned in 2024, and resumed its mission of encouraging Framingham residents to grow healthy vegetables and herbs in their own home gardens, and give back a portion to aid in food insecurity. 73 families/individuals have registered for the Community Giving Garden, and many picked up their starter kits at Earth Day. We delivered started kits to a dozen people who were not able to come to Earth Day.
- To create starter kits, we were pleased to get generous donations from Root Pouch/Fran’s Flowers, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and River’s Edge, Home Depot and Stearns Farm, as well as seedlings donated by several FGC members.#Growing GoodProgram #GrowingGoodWill
