Framingham Garden Club is thrilled to receive acknowledgement for some of the wonderful work we have done as a garden club this past year. At the recent GCFM annual meeting, FGC was given the following awards:
1) The Virginia F. Thurston Landscape Design Award for the design of the raised beds in front of Framingham City Hall. Team members for this project included: Shannon Fitzpatrick, Andi Saari, Pam Marold, Aparna Kumar, Cathy DeNorscia, and Marie Giorgetti. Congratulations to all!
2) The Publications Award: A certificate of merit was awarded to FGC for the publication of the Cookie Book. The Cookie Book was initiated by longtime FGC member Priscilla Olson in honor of FGC’s 90th Anniversary. Priscilla spent hundreds of hours compiling, retyping and formatting 90-plus cookie and bar recipes submitted by FGC members. Congratulations to Priscilla and all who contributed to make this 90th Anniversary cookie book possible.
3) The New England Garden Clubs’ Mary Stone Garden Therapy Award was awarded to Framingham Garden Club for Senior Classes Framingham’s senior program is now a model for all of Massachusetts. Kudos to Marilyn Hanley and Pat Towle for transforming FGC’s Senior Classes program.
4)The Helen DeOrsay Freidberg Tribute Scholarships is a scholarship is awarded for one garden club member per district for any of the GCFM schools. Kathy Hoogeboom received the award from the Western Central South District and will be attending Flower Show School course 1 in the Fall. Congratulations to Kathy!
