Framingham Garden Club designers were among more than 40 members of GCFM, along with their assistants, who showcased their floral artistry at the Museum of Fine Arts’ 50th annual Art in Bloom celebration. Since 1976, this annual celebration has paired art from the MFA’s collection—from ancient to contemporary—with floral interpretations created by New England garden clubs, professional designers, and MFA floral volunteers.

In 2026, FGC designer Minal Akkad and assistant Shannon Fitzpatrick were assigned an 1850’s Chief’s Chest.  Minal created an exquisite arrangement with anthurium, tuberose, fantail palm, pincushion protea, Monstera leaves, magnolia leaves and more.

Representing the Judges Council, Framingham Garden Club designers Ruth Evans and Betsy Szymczak were challenged with interpreting the massive black stone sarcophagus lid of Kheperra, a general in the 6th century BC.
