Heritage House Senior Class – Oct 2017
On Oct. 18, twelve enthusiastic senior residents at Heritage at Framingham Senior Living Facility created beautiful Fall floral arrangements with the help of FGC members Peg Homberg (in photo), Jane Paolini, and Marilyn Hanley.
Cranberry, orange and lime green mums were plentiful, as well as a fun scarecrow to complete arrangements and enhance the creative fun.
Residents said they were happy to bring the arrangements back “to brighten their apartments” and they thanked the Framingham Garden Club.

Members Tour Private Garden
Framingham Garden Club members spent a delightful morning touring a private garden in Paxton last week.
Our genial host took us around his grass tennis court, gardens, extensive fruit trees, and his Koi ponds. (FGC member Margery fed the fish and almost fell in with all of the food!)
Andrea Shagory prepared a wonderful picnic lunch for us. Members commented that it was both educational and relaxing. Pam told our host that he inspired her to try wintering over the tropical water lilies in her Koi pond.…
Framingham Garden Club awards four scholarships
In May 2022, the Framingham Garden Club, Inc. awarded four $1000 scholarships to local students who plan to degree in environmental or related areas orf study..
This year’s deserving recipients are Ella Downey, Olivia Robitaille, Calvin Poole and Emma Rothwell. Shown here is Emma Rothwell, the Marion Goodman Memorial Scholarship recipient, and her fellow deservinggraduating seniors.

Ruth Evans Receives National Achievement Award
At the Annual Meeting of the Federation of Massachusetts, “The Wonders of New England”, the Central South District’s Standard Flower Show held at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, received A National Garden Club Achievement Award # 57 for the best Standard Flower Show Staged in A Public Building.
This national award was presented to Ruth Evans, flower show chairman by the President of the National Garden Club, Inc., Nancy Hargroves at a ceremony at the Westford Regency Hotel on June 7th.
Ruth Evans also received the Violet F. MacLaren Show Schedule Award, from Betty Sanders president of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.…

Our Secret Garden Success!
Our Spring Sale was a massive success and particular thanks is due to Framingham Garden Club members Pat Towle and Meg Kelley, whose fantastic brainchild “The Secret Garden” – a selection of lovingly handmade gifts, featuring a mix of hearty succulents and delicate flower groupings – was simply breathtaking.
These were just a few images of the beautiful keepsakes we happily shared this year. Bravo to Phyllis Olsen Mary Haden for managing the entire plant sale. …
Garden Club Goes Back In Time
A large group of Framingham Garden Club members attended a special tour at the Framingham Historical Center entitled “Stitches in History,” presented by the History Center’s Curator, Stacen Goldman.
On February 2, 2017, FGC members were treated to a display of clothing that spanned the years 1772-1927. All of the clothing was actually worn by Framingham women. The exhibit consisted of a selection of 13 dresses from the FHC’s massive collection of over 300 items.
We would like to thank Meg Kelley from the Garden Club for arranging this special tour, and especially Stacen Goldman and the History Center for keeping Framingham’s past alive so vibrantly.…
FGC Master Arranger Shines in Boston Flower Show
The Boston Flower & Garden Show transformed the Seaport World Trade Center into New England’s largest greenhouse from March 22-26, 2017. One of the highlights of the flower show is always the exciting competitions between New England’s top floral designers competing for prestigious honors awarded by credentialed judges.
This year, Framingham Garden Club was thrilled to support one of our own members, Minal Akkad, a world-class Master Arranger who also serves as President of the Boston Chapter of Ikebana International Club.
Congratulations to Minal for being selected to display her touching, artful work at such a prestigious invitational flower show.…
Framingham Garden Club Gives Back
The Framingham Garden Club is honored to participate in a meaningful and also practical conservation project that’s as simple as collecting pennies.
At every FGC meeting or event, we gather up whatever spare pennies we have on us. The collection grows surprisingly fast, and every time the total reaches $68.00 the bank is gladly donated to the wonderful Penny Pine program.
The Penny Pine program is a conservation program of the National Garden Club and is administered locally by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. Money collected from donors, such as FGC, goes toward the costs of replanting trees indigenous to an area damaged by fire or by other natural catastrophe.…
A Secret Garden Full of Spring Gifts
Framingham Garden Club’s Spring Plant Sale will add a rush of color and life to Framingham. Saturday May 11th, from 9am to 12:00 – accessible from the Winter Street entrance near Keefe Tech [map].
This year, in addition to our ready-to-transplant potted items for the vegetable and flower garden, The Framingham Garden Club is excited to also offer an array of beautiful, hand-made arrangements and handcrafted gifts that are perfect for Mother’s Day and other special spring occasions such as graduations, first communions, and more.
These precious keepsakes are perfect to brighten any room just in time for Spring. Many of the displays cleverly come in tiny, antique teacups, classic silver cups, and other small bowls, all donated by members of the FGC.…
